Our History Goes Back Almost 50 Years!
Sure Crop’s origin dates back to 1965 when founders Don and Shirley Schurman, who grew up on family farms in northeast Kansas, married and began their life together of operating a diversified family farm. Don, who was ever curious to understand soils and be a better steward of his land, learned that applying more and more fertilizer wasn’t what soils needed. Rather, balancing soil nutrient ratios was the key to healthier, more productive soils. Along with their Christian upbringing, Don and Shirley built their company on the foundational backing of 2 Corinthians 9:10, “And He that supplies seed to the sower and bread for food, shall supply and multiply your seed for sowing, and increase the fruits of your righteousness.”

Balanced Soil is Key to Increased Yields
Don began working with soil bio-stimulants in 1978. Neighbors began to take notice of Don’s fields and he explained that balanced soils lead to increased yields of nutrient dense crops. He embraced the role of serving growers, which led the young couple to establish Ag Connection Sales, Inc. (ACS) in January 1984. Over the next decade, their business of marketing bio-stimulants and liquid fertilizers expanded over the Midwest from Texas to North Dakota. By 1998, ACS was conducting research, manufacturing, and distributing Assure Crop, their formulations of quality liquid crop nutrition. As of January 2010, their Assure Crop name was formally trademarked Sure Crop, a division of Ag Connection Sales, Inc.
Sadly, on December 6th, 2018, Don Schurman passed away. His discovery of using less fertilizer, balancing soil nutrient levels, and using liquid fertilizer paved the way for healthier, more productive soils. It also ignited a passion within him to help others achieve success with their own crop production goals and to see numerous farmers’ crops thriving.
Today, Sure Crop Fertilizers continues to live on through all three of Don and Shirley’s children, Cory, Monae, and Shanon, as well as their families and a dedicated Sure Crop team. Their intention is to continue Don’s legacy and strive to live up to the Sure Crop mission statement, which is to help growers grow abundant and quality crops while preserving and improving the soils they steward. The original farm has been substantially expanded and serves as one of Sure Crop’s research sites for product development. With our line of highly efficient products and a team committed to helping you through the process, we seek to help every farmer achieve healthy fields that result in optimum yields.
